Cycling event to benefit Health Care Access

Free State Ride, Body Boutique’s indoor cycling facility, is hosting a co-ed charity ride at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with all proceeds going to Health Care Access.

The 90-minute ride strives to raise awareness of women’s heart health while assisting Health Care Access in providing services to uninsured and under-insured residents of Douglas County. The event is open to the public; a minimum pledge of $50 per rider is required.

The event is limited to 30 riders; space can be reserved with a $10 non-refundable deposit, and all pledge money must be submitted by Feb. 25. “Although $50 is the minimum pledge to ride, we certainly encourage riders to go above and beyond that amount,” said Clement. “Company matching programs and individual sponsors are great options for raising donations.”

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable attire and athletic shoes with a firm sole (special cycling shoes are not required). The class will be acceptable for all fitness levels, and options and modifications will be given by the ride leaders. All riders will receive a swag bag and will have time to mingle (and recover!) during a post-ride reception.
