Overland Park ? Free State High’s Tate Steele, Shayn Morris, Cameron Shanks and Isaiah Jacobs won their weight classes, and the Firebirds finished first at a Class 6A wrestling regional Saturday at Shawnee Mission West.

Tucker Wilson (160 pounds) and Alan Clothier (182) won for Lawrence High, and the Lions placed third in the eight-team meet.

Steele won at 106 pounds, Morris at 113, Shanks at 120 and Jacobs at 126.

Finishing second were Bennett King (113) and Santino Gee (170) for LHS, and Sid Miller (132), Nick Eddis (220) and Luke Winchester (285) for FSHS.

Free State won the team title with 1581/2 points, followed by Shawnee Mission Northwest with 1471/2 and Lawrence High with 122.

Both schools’ state qualifiers will compete at 10 a.m. Friday at Hartman Arena in Park City.
