Jayhawks recruiting Cheick Diallo and his younger teammate
Morgantown, W.Va. ? Cheick Diallo, a 6-9 senior forward from Our Savior New American in Centereach, New York, has been studying videos from his five finalists — KU, Kentucky, Iowa State, St. John’s and Pittsburgh — to see where he might best fit in, Zagsblog.com reports.
“Don’t sleep on Kentucky. Kentucky is calling Cheick every day,” a source told Zagsblog.com. “Kansas is calling Cheick every day. Iowa State is working hard for Cheick. It’s going to be very hard for Cheick.”
One source said Rivals.com’s No. 6-rated player nationally is waiting to see which Kentucky players leave for the NBA after this season.
Yakwe recruitment: KU is recruiting Diallo’s teammate, Kassoum Yakwe, a 6-7 junior forward, who is ranked No. 116 nationally in the Class of 2016, Zagsblog reports. Others involved: Iowa State, Villanova, Syracuse and St. John’s.
“He’s a freak athlete,” Draftexpress.com’s Jonathan Givony said as reported by Zagsblog.com. “He guards, he rebounds, he blocks shots. He has an amazing body with a long wingspan. There are not many guys in college with those physical attributes. If he develops a reliable corner 3, he is going to be an NBA player.”
