From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Feb. 15, 1990:

An overnight storm had covered Lawrence with a thick coating of ice, closing schools and canceling events city-wide this morning. Lawrence police this morning reported 10 ice-related accidents during the previous day and a dozen or fewer overnight. Schools were canceled in Lawrence and nine surrounding districts, but Kansas University was conducting classes this morning, even with the buses running late because of road conditions.
