Veritas sweeps Flint Hills

? Twelve players scored to help Veritas Christian School rout Flint Hills Christian, 62-22, in high school boys basketball Friday.

Drake Napier paced the Eagles with 11 points, and Miles Dressler and Trey Huslig added nine apiece.

Veritas came away with 21 steals and forced 33 Flint Hills turnovers.

The Eagles (16-4) will play at 6:30 tonight at St. Mary’s.

Eudora — Tori Huslig poured in 25 points to power Veritas Christian past Flint Hills Christian.

Emma Wilson added eight points, while Holly Scott, Alyssa Krestan and Maci Dressler rounded out the scoring for Veritas with four points each.

Veritas head coach Kevin Shelton credited the Eagles’ man-to-man defense as the key to bring his team back to the .500 mark at 9-9.

“I think that is what got us going tonight,” Shelton said. “Our man defense is better than our zone.”

The Eagles will have a weeklong layoff before playing host to Marais des Cygnes Valley at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
