Madison Piper propels FSHS girls

? Madison Piper had a career day to help Free State High coast to a 65-48 girls basketball victory over Kansas City Schlagle on Tuesday.

Piper scored 31 points and tied an FSHS record with 18 rebounds.

The FSHS sophomore matched the mark of Banaka Okwuone, who set the record on Feb. 5, 2005.

The Firebirds spread the wealth on offense, even with Piper’s season-high 31 points. Sarah Coversup and Adriana Jadlow scored 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Schlagle was powered by the dynamic duo of Shai Scales and Kiara Brown, who combined to score 44 of the Stallions’ 48 points.

FSHS (11-2) will play at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Shawnee Mission Northwest.
