Bonner Springs man suspected of armed robbery in alleged drug transaction in Lawrence

A Bonner Springs man has been charged with aggravated robbery related to a drug transaction, a Lawrence police spokesman said Wednesday.

Michael Lamont Caldwell, 32, was armed with a gun Saturday when he threatened another man with “bodily harm or by force while armed with a dangerous weapon” and stole money, according to court records.

Caldwell and the victim were in a vehicle near Mississippi Street and Fambrough Way, which borders Memorial Stadium, when the incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, said Lawrence Police Sgt. Trent McKinley.

Caldwell was arrested Saturday at the Bonner Springs police department by Lawrence police, Douglas County jail records showed.

He is being held in the Douglas County Jail on a bond of $30,000, and police are continuing to investigate, McKinley said.
