LHS softball splits at jamboree
Overland Park ? Lawrence High’s softball team split two games in the Shawnee Mission South jamboree on Thursday.
The Lions (5-5) lost, 5-3, to Gardner-Edgerton in their first game after the Trailblazers scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning.
In the nightcap, LHS beat Mill Valley, 12-6. After trailing 3-0 in the second inning, the Lions bashed 19 hits over the next five innings to pull away. Sophie Taylor, who hit a two-run home run in the third inning to give LHS its first lead, Kenzie Garvin and Amber Flummerfelt all had three-hit games.
LHS will face St. Thomas Aquinas and Holton on Saturday.
