Today in Lawrence: Cool, sunny and a film festival at Liberty Hall

A break in the clouds

Today will offer some of the last real sunshine you’ll see until mid-Sunday, so get out and enjoy it. The morning will be clear and cool, according to forecasters, with a temperature near 46 at 9 a.m., before warming up into the low 60s this afternoon. Friday and Saturday will bring thunderstorms similar to last weekend’s. For the record, Lawrence is actually doing pretty well precipitation-wise this month: Our April rainfall total as of this morning is 2.34 inches, just off the 2.81-inch average. For the year, though, Lawrence is still well behind where it should be in terms of moisture: 4.74 inches, compared with a 7.76-inch average. So more rain is good rain.
