Today in Lawrence: Sun and s’mores

Sunny day

Although it will be a bit cooler than Tuesday, another nice, sunny day is on tap. Morning temperatures will hover in the mid-40s before getting into the low 50s by lunchtime. It will almost reach 60 under clear skies in the afternoon before cooling back down into the low 40s overnight.

Can I have s’more?

From 3-4 p.m. today, the Lawrence Public Library will host the program Solar Panels & S’mores for youths in grades 6-12. After a discussion about how houses use coal, wind and the sun for energy, participants will get to harness the awesome power of the sun to make some solar-powered s’mores.

The Lawrence Public Library will host the program Solar Panels and S’Mores for youths from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday.

Ninth Street Corridor plan

In the ongoing effort in planning the proposed Ninth Street Corridor, the second in a series of citizen advisory committee meetings with the public will be held at 7 p.m. at New York Elementary School, 936 New York St. The committee is a group of neighborhood, city and business representatives who are acting as the project’s sounding board for city staff and a separate design team, which is also meeting with the public. The topic of this meeting will be to discuss a work plan for the project.
