KU men’s golf sixth at Hawkeye

? Three Kansas University golfers placed in the top 20, and the Jayhawks were sixth in the team race at the Hawkeye Invitational, which concluded Sunday at Finkbine Golf Course.

Chase Hanna finished at 1-under 215 to tie for 13th to pace the Jayhawks. Other KU scores: Ben Welle, 16th, 216; Connor Peck, tied for 17th, 217; Daniel Hudson, tied for 23rd, 219; and Brock Drogosch, tied for 56th, 230. Spencer Painton, competing as an individual, tied for 38th at 224.

“Unfortunately, we just didn’t play the par-5s very well, and that really hurt our team score,” Kansas coach Jamie Bermel said.

Iowa State won the team title with 847. Kansas was sixth at 867.

KU will head to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the Big 12 Championship, April 27-29 at Southern Hills Country Club.
