Roadwork: Construction planned this week

Lawrence:

• Utility crews are replacing the water main on Eighth Street between Indiana and Kentucky streets. Eighth Street will remain open to traffic except for a short temporary closure at Eighth and Indiana streets. Traffic on Tennessee and Kentucky streets will be reduced to one lane during portions of the project. The project is expected to last through August.

• Utility crews will install a new water line on West 22nd Street from Naismith to Ousdahl. Work will be completed within the right-of-way, and temporary road closures will occur. The projected completion date for this project is July 17.

• Utility crews are installing a new water line on Hilltop Drive from Ninth Street to Oxford Road. During the project, there will be temporary road closures on Hilltop Drive. The projected completion date for this project is May 29.

• Demolition and construction activities have started on a new apartment complex south of 11th Street between Mississippi and Indiana streets. Existing public on-street parking on the south side of 11th Street, the east side of Mississippi Street and the west side of Indiana Street will not be available during construction. The project is expected to last through July 2016.

• A project is underway to construct a new diamond interchange at Kansas Highway 10 and Bob Billings Parkway. Work will take place during daylight hours Monday through Friday. At this time, there are minimal motorist impacts, but the work has caused a need to detour the South Lawrence Trafficway trail between Sixth Street and Bob Billings Parkway.

South Lawrence Trafficway:

• Both the eastbound and westbound left lanes on K-10 from East 1650 Road to East 1900 Road are closed while work is being done on the new interchange at K-10 and 23rd Street. These lane closures are expected to last through late December. East 1900 Road and County Road 442 will both remain open throughout the project.
