Today in Lawrence: Art show and ‘The Explorers Club’

Bring the heat

After a few days’ cool-off, temperatures will jump this morning and carry us toward a warmer weekend. The day will start at sunrise in the high 40s, with a quick warm-up to 70 degrees by noon and the clouds breaking shortly after. Friday’s high is forecast for 77, but the start of the weekend also could bring thundershowers.

Art smart

St. John’s School Art Show is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. All are welcome to view the artwork from pre-K, elementary and middle school students. Check out this year’s interactive displays incorporating music and spoken word. Selections of student original art will be available for purchase, and art teacher Jessica Dunn has donated a piece of her original art, which will be available for purchase by silent auction. St. John’s School is at 1208 Kentucky St.

Let’s explore

And at 7:30 p.m., don’t overlook Theatre Lawrence’s latest, “The Explorers Club,” at 4660 Bauer Farm Drive. The farce pokes fun at Victorian customs and a whole lot more. Tickets: $15.99 to $24.99.
