Eudora School District to hold public forum on budget cuts tonight

The Eudora School Board will host a meeting Wednesday night to discuss plans to balance the district’s budget for 2015-2016.

The meeting, 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Eudora High School, will be open to the public and will include a period for public comment.

In a recent post on his blog, Eudora Superintendent Steve Splichal outlined several areas of concern that will be addressed at the meeting.

“Flat funding with growing enrollment, together with increased operational expenses — have placed us in a position where we must consider a combination of district budget cuts and student fee increases. Flat funding is a product of the Kansas Legislature and our Governor,” Splichal wrote.
