Prairie Village ? Free State High’s baseball team was held to four hits Friday in a 4-3 loss to Shawnee Mission East.

SM East scored the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh on a wild pitch on a swinging strike.

Jacob Pavlyak, Cooper Karlin, Joel Spain and Hunter Gudde had the only hits for FSHS, all singles.

“Offensively, we struggled a little bit,” FSHS coach Mike Hill said. “I was real pleased with our sticktoitiveness.”

The Firebirds (4-1) will host SM Northwest at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
