Overland Park ? Free State’s girls soccer team was tied with Shawnee Mission East at halftime, but could not keep up with the Lancers in the second half in a 6-1 setback Thursday.

Sabrea Platz brought Free State level with the Lancers with her first goal of the season, but it was all SM East after that.

“We had a bad 12-minute stretch where everything just fell apart,” FSHS coach Kelly Barah said.

The Firebirds (1-1) will try to bounce back on Tuesday against Shawnee Mission West.
