Local Boy Scouts to collect donations for annual ‘Scouting-for-Food’ drive

Local Boy Scouts are once again on the hunt for food donations to feed the hungry.

Scouts in Lawrence will begin preparing for the 28th annual “Scouting-for-Food” Food Drive this weekend by passing out flyers about the event, John Scott, 2015 Scouting-for-Food coordinator, said in a release. The Scouts will then pick up donations April 11.

Those who receive a flyer are asked to place donations in a sack or box with the flyer attached to avoid confusion, the release said. Donations should be placed on the front porch or step by 9 a.m. and should be picked up by noon.

If you don’t receive a flyer or miss the drop-off time, donations may be brought on April 11 to the Salvation Army, 946 New Hampshire St., or to Anderson Rentals, 1312 West 6th St., the release said.

Food drives will also take place in Eudora and Baldwin. Donations will be accepted by the Eudora St. Paul’s Church of Christ, 738 Church St., and the Baldwin United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 704 8th St.
