To the editor:

This letter is in response to the March 27 letter from Leavenworth Rick. I can definitely detect the foul aroma of a cheap shot coming from Leavenworth. Tell me, Leavenworth Rick, would you have written that letter if KU had beaten Wichita State? No, I don’t think so. You just thought you’d take a potshot at KU while they are down.

I got news for you: KU has won 13 national championships in basketball and track and field! How many has your school won? In basketball, KU plays one of the toughest schedules in the country every year. Most schools would be delighted to have won 11 straight Big 12 championships and won a game in the NCAA.

We are a little spoiled, having gone deep in the tournament most years and disappointed to have won only one game two years in a row in the NCAA. But we all know we have had a history of success in the way Bill Self has guided this program and know there is more in the future. Bill Self does not need advice and is impervious of cheap shots coming from Leavenworth. So, Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
