Firefighters investigating suspicious fire in southeast Lawrence

Firefighters are investigating a suspicious fire in southeast Lawrence on Sunday morning.
Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical responded to a two-alarm fire at Larsen & Associates, a geothermal drilling business at 1311 E. 25th St., at just after 7:30 a.m. to discover smoke on the first and second levels of the structure, according to dispatchers. Firefighters also sensed heat on the second floor.
During the preliminary investigation, the fire was thought to be coming from the attic. There were no injuries in the blaze.
Division chief Doug Green said late Sunday morning that investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the fire and extent of the damage.
