HINU upended by Mayville

The Haskell Indian Nations University football team broke out for a 20-point third quarter, but the Indians were scoreless for the rest of the game, falling to Mayville State (North Dakota), 47-20, on Saturday at Haskell Stadium.

HINU trailed 35-0 at halftime before scoring 20 unanswered points in the third. The Indians started their scoring when Jennara Bollin returned a punt 50 yards for a TD.

The momentum from the big play on special teams carried over to the Indians’ offense. Running back Marcus McVay broke loose for a 48-yard touchdown run midway through the third, and Bollin found the end zone again 21/2 minutes later after hauling in a 61-yard pass from Maverick Lang.

Lang completed 16 of 39 passes for 184 yards.

Haskell will hit the road to take on Quincy (Illinois) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
