Band Day parade

The Kansas University School of Music will stage the 67th Annual KU Band Day on Saturday. Thirty high school bands from Kansas and Missouri will participate in the event. The traditional KU Band Day Parade, with all participating bands and the KU Marching Jayhawks, will begin at 9 a.m. on Massachusetts Street in downtown Lawrence. Bring the family for marching band music along Mass. Street!

Treasure trove

The Pilot Club Antique Show and Sale will offer treasures from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Building 21 of the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St. Admission is $3 and is good for both Friday and Saturday. You never know what you might find — the treasure hunt is on!

Don’t feed the plants

“Little Shop of Horrors,” an affectionate spoof of 1950’s sci-fi movies, became one of off-Broadway’s longest running shows. See it in all its musical goodness at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Theatre Lawrence, 4660 Bauer Farm Drive. Tickets range from $15.99 to $24.99.

Making awareness

A coalition of Lawrence environmental, art, and church groups is sponsoring public events to raise awareness about climate change. The coalition invites the public to participate in The People’s Climate March Maker Party, noon-3 p.m. Sunday at the west side of South Park, 13th and Massachusetts streets, with a celebration march around the park at 2:30 pm. The “maker party” is a time for people of all ages to come together to create art, using the symbol of a green heart to represent solidarity with The People’s Climate March in New York City. (Rain location Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vermont St.)

Baroque opera

The Baroque Song Project of the KU School of Music will present a concert version of the opera “Dido and Aeneas” by Henry Purcell in 328 Murphy Hall. “Dido and Aeneas” is the most famous opera from the Baroque period with a text in English. The performance is free and open to the public. The concert is at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Room 328, Murphy Hall, 1530 Naismith Drive.
