Prairie Village ? Shawnee Mission East handed Free State High its first boys soccer loss of the season, 8-1 on Thursday night.

Will Laufer scored the Firebirds’ lone goal with about 10 minutes left in the first half.

“I think the boys really battled,” FSHS coach Kelly Barah said. “I don’t think the score reflects how we played. We caught them on a really good night. We’ll learn from our mistakes.”

The Firebirds (2-1-1) will host Shawnee Mission North on Tuesday.
