Minneapolis ? Kansas University senior Gabriella DiMarco tied for sixth, and the KU women’s golf team placed third at the Minnesota Invitational on Tuesday at the Minikahda Club.

DiMarco shot a 4-over 76 Tuesday and carded a three-round 5-over 221.

“I got a good feeling for my swing,” DiMarco said. “Coach Katy (Nahm) has worked with me a lot over the last nine months going through a huge swing change, switching everything up to make it more consistent, so I didn’t have big misses. I can help the team out more and give them some good scores. (Like Minikahda) I grew up playing on a bent-grass course, so I was able to get up and down a lot and hit a lot of good putts. It felt like a home-course advantage because I grew up on a course like this.”

As a team, the Jayhawks moved up a spot on the final day.

“It was a great day.” KU coach Erin O’Neil said. “We got off to a little of a rough start early, but bounced back, hung in there, finished strong, and we were able to move up to third, which is great. Everybody contributed each day and really hung in there. … It was just across-the-board a good tournament. We are optimistic heading into the rest of the fall season.”

East Carolina won with 879 and was followed by Colorado (900) and KU (905).

Kansas’ other scores: Pornvipa Sakdee and Yupaporn Kawinpakorn, tied for 28th, 229; Michelle Woods, tied for 37th, 231; and Kallie Conzales, tied for 67th, 243.
