De Soto ? Senior Carson Gilliland scored late in the second half to give the Free State High boys soccer team a 1-0 victory over De Soto on Monday.

Gilliland’s goal was assisted by senior Daniel Clarke.

Free State improved to 2-0 with the win, but FSHS coach Kelly Barah said that there are a number of areas of the game that the Firebirds need to do some fine-tuning on.

“We will take a win every time, but there is some stuff we need to sort out defensively,” Barah said.

FSHS will play again today against Shawnee Mission West at Shawnee Mission District Stadium.
