KU-Texas kickoff set for 3 p.m., Sept. 27

The Kansas University football team’s homecoming game will have a mid-afternoon kickoff and a national audience.

The Jayhawks (currently 1-1, heading into a Saturday home game against Central Michigan) open Big 12 Conference play against the Texas Longhorns at 3 p.m., on, Sept. 27. The game will be televised on Fox Sports 1, the Big 12 Conference announced on Monday.

The contest versus Texas (1-2 and headed into an off week) will mark the Jayhawks’ first appearance on FOX Sports 1 in 2014, after making five appearances on the newly launched network in 2013.

KU takes on Texas for the 14th time in the history of the two programs. The Longhorns lead the Jayhawks, 11-2, all time and, 5-2, in games played in Lawrence. Kansas won the first two meetings between the two schools, but has not defeated Texas since a 19-18 victory in 1938.
