Emporia ? Lawrence High’s doubles team of Caroline Baloga and Natalie Cote went 3-1 on Saturday to take ninth place in the Emporia tennis invitational.

The LHS pair dropped their first match but won the next three.

“It was nice to see them play together and win the next three matches,” Lions coach Chris Marshall said.

In singles, Kendall Pritchard went 2-2 and finished 10th, and Erin Ventura was 1-3.

Anna Birt and Yelena Birt were forced to default while winning their opening match when Anna Birt dislocated her shoulder.

Payton Smith went 5-0 to win the junior varsity singles competition.

“At times, a lot of the girls did play well,” Marshall said.
