Couple donate ranch, $2 million to KU

A future commitment of a 120-acre ranch and a $2 million gift to maintain and enhance the northeast Kansas property has been made to Kansas University and KU Endowment.

The property includes native wildflowers and grasses, towering walnut trees and cottonwoods, and historic pioneer trails.

“This is a wonderful gift that honors the beauty and history of Kansas,” said KU Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little.

The couple who have made the gift commitment wish to remain anonymous.

Ed Martinko, director the Kansas Biological Survey, said the gift will be used to preserve native plants and for research and educational purposes.
