Letter: Global threat

To the editor:

June 6, 1944, D-Day. The combined allied forces of the U.S., Great Britan, Canada and many other allied countries invaded Adolf Hitler’s “Fortress Europa” and started the task of defeating and destroying the Third Reich. It took several years to accomplish this task and to reveal the horror of the Holocaust and other crimes of the Third Reich. Hitler did not take over Germany; the people gave it to him. And the rest is history.

Today we have another political entity that is killing its own people, killing any others that they can get their hands on and advancing a poison and debauched philosophy in the guise of some sort of religious fervor. They have succeeded in enslaving territory in Iraq and Syria while the world watches. Just like the world watched and turned a blind eye to Hitler. Hitler was acclaimed as a political genius and was even “Man of the Year” on Time magazine before his real motives and goals were finally discovered and understood.

It should be abundantly clear to anyone who is watching this horror unfold in the Middle East that this fraudulent religious fanatical entity should be overcome and destroyed for the good of the entire world.

It may take another D-Day type of military operation to destroy ISIS or whatever it is called.

But does mankind have the stomach to advance another D-Day in the quest of removing this new vicious cancer to mankind? I wonder.
