KU Hospital announces event celebrating new broadcast studio

Kansas University Hospital has announced a public event to celebrate the hospital’s new television broadcast studio and Medical News Network.

The new Dolph C. Simons Jr. Family Broadcast Studio is home of the Medical News Network, described as a news feed exclusively for media worldwide. A news conference is planned for 11:30 a.m. Monday at KU Hospital.

Simons, who is publisher of the Journal-World, and his wife, Pam, recognize the difficulties facing media in reporting medical news and made the significant contribution enabling the studio, according to a KU Hospital announcement.

“The facility is a fully functioning TV studio with live capabilities for the purpose of giving media access to experts and ‘raw’ interviews and video to craft their own stories,” the hospital announced. “The ‘news feed’ is designed to meet the needs of the media including exclusive stories for sweeps coverage in addition to general health and wellness information the public craves.”
