Shawnee ? Free State cross country runners Emily Venters and Ryan Liston followed up their individual Sunflower League titles by winning their respective races Saturday at the 6A regional championship meet hosted at Shawnee Mission Park.

The Firebird standouts helped Free State to sweep the regional championship, which in turn qualified the FSHS boys and girls teams for the state meet Friday at Rim Rock Farm.

The Lawrence High boys and girls squads placed sixth and seventh.

LHS junior Nathan Pederson qualified for the state meet by finishing in the first five individuals who were not members of state qualifying teams.
