Baker edges Benedictine

? The No. 2-ranked Baker University football team edged No. 19 Benedictine, 27-21, in the nightcap of the inaugural NAIA Gridiron Challenge on Saturday night at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Wildcats trailed 14-10 late in the second quarter before Free State High alumnus Camren Torneden punched it in from one yard out. Torneden led the Wildcats with 89 yards rushing on 24 carries. Fellow former Firebird Keith Loneker Jr. had a team-high 12 tackles for the Wildcats.

Baker (6-0) will move on to play Avila at 1 p.m. Saturday in Kansas City, Missouri.
