• Barbara Bushell, of Lawrence, joined 30,000 Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants at the company’s annual seminar in August in Dallas. Bushell began her Mary Kay business in Lawrence this summer and is an independent senior sales director.

• Lawrence-based Tallgrass Studios Inc. announced the promotion of Deena Schaumburg to director of digital media. Schaumburg is a graduate of Lawrence High School and Kansas University.

• The Lawrence chamber of commerce’s Schmooza Palooza business expo will be held at 4 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Oread Hotel, 1200 Oread Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
