360 Cup Cyclocross event coming to Lawrence this weekend
About 300 bicyclists will whiz through Centennial Park this weekend when the 360 Cup Cyclocross race returns to Lawrence for a third time.
Cyclocross involves many laps in a short course that features varying terrain such as pavement, wooded trails, grass, mud, steep hills and obstacles that require riders to quickly dismount and carry the bike.
Thirteen races for men and women will run between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Centennial Park, 2198 W. Ninth St. Each race lasts 30 to 45 minutes.
A free race for kids will also be held Saturday at the conclusion of the 12:15 p.m. races. Adult events will continue at 2 p.m.
It’s free to watch and cyclists can register with a $25 fee at USACycling.org or learn more at VisitLawrence.com.
