• Joshua Rosenbloom, a professor of economics at Kansas University, was selected to join the Social Science Advisory Board of the National Center for Women and Information Technology. The NCWIT is a community of more than 575 universities, companies, nonprofits and government organizations nationwide working to increase women’s participation in computing and technology.

• Lawrence Otolaryngology Associates has been identified as a “better performer” in a 2014 report from the Medical Group Management Association. This is the sixth year the locally owned medical practice received the designation.

• Chuck Magerl, the owner of Free State Brewery, 636 Massachusetts St., has been named to the Kansas Restaurant Hall of Fame. In 1989, Free State Brewing Co. became the state’s first legal brewery in more than 100 years.

• The Lawrence Chamber of commerce introduced six new members to its organization: Foster Care Technologies, Quik Cash, Christine Julian Interiors, Affordable LED Solutions, Zimmerschied Architecture and Cibo Sano Italian Grille.

• Frito-Lay recently recognized Adrian Fishburn for a career milestone of driving 1 million accident-free miles. Fishburn, a Lawrence resident, was honored in Dallas alongside 106 other drivers from across the United States and Canada. It typically takes about 12 years to drive that far without an accident, according to a news release.
