Ottawa, De Soto fall in semifinals

? Ottawa and De Soto lost semifinal matches Friday in the Class 4-1A boys state soccer tournament.

Bishop Miege downed Ottawa, 4-1, and Rose Hill outlasted De Soto, 3-2, in an overtime match that was decided by penalty kicks.

De Soto came back twice against Rose Hill, but Rose Hill won in overtime on the 10th penalty kick following a 2-2 tie in regulation. Rose Hill went ahead 2-1 with 18 minutes left, but De Soto later tied it at 2-all. Rose Hill improved to 19-1-0, and De Soto fell to 13-5-2.

In the Ottawa-Miege contest, Miege took a 2-0 lead into halftime and held on. Miege advanced to 14-4-2, and Ottawa dropped to 16-3-1.

Ottawa and De Soto will meet in the third-place match at noon today. Miege and Rose Hill will play for the state title at 2 p.m.
