A Lawrence apartment building was temporarily evacuated Saturday afternoon after a fire started in a laundry room dryer.

Shortly after 2 p.m., Lawrence firefighters responded to the dryer fire at Orchard Corners Apartments, 1405 Apple Lane, said Doug Green, Lawrence Fire Department division chief. One building of the apartment complex, which housed the laundry room and leasing office, was evacuated while firefighters extinguished the blaze, Green said.

Only the dryer was damaged by the fire, and no injuries were reported, Green said. The cause of the fire was under investigation Saturday evening.
