Lawrence apartment shooting leaves ‘at least’ one person injured

At least one person is injured after an early-morning shooting Saturday at a Lawrence apartment complex, according to a press release from the Lawrence Police Department.

Lawrence police were dispatched shortly after 2:30 a.m. to The Grove apartments, 4301 W. 24th Place, after one or more people fired multiple gunshots into a crowd near the complex’s pool.

The shots struck at least one person, an 18-year-old Topeka man, who was treated and later released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital, police said. Authorities suspect others may have been injured, though many people left the scene before officers and medical units arrived, according to Sgt. Trent McKinley.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the department at 785-832-7509. Callers who wish to remain anonymous may call CrimeStoppers at 785-843-8477. Those who provide information that could lead to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000, police said.
