Today in Lawrence: Catch these art exhibits before they close

Keep it cool

Remember the near-record heat wave of less than a week ago? Well, neither do we. It’s a little chilly, man, and will continue to be: high in the 60s with a low of 44, and more of the same until Sunday, at least.

Catch it soon

One option to escape the cool breeze: duck into a gallery for an exhibit closing soon. The Spencer Museum of Art, 1301 Mississippi St., ends its run of James Turrell‘s “Gard Blue” and quilts by Yoshiko Jinzenji and Virginia Jean Cox Mitchell on May 18, so today is one of your last opportunities to see them. 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Or head to Theatre Lawrence, 4660 Bauer Farm Drive, during box office hours, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., to see paintings by Louis Copt. That display ends May 25.
