Three Topeka residents were arrested in connection with an alleged string of thefts at multiple South Lawrence retail stores, and one was charged Thursday with aggravated burglary.

The three were arrested near the Sixth Street and Kansas Highway 10 interchange before 7 p.m. Wednesday after officers responded to a shoplifting call at Kohl’s, 3240 Iowa St., said Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence Police Department spokesman.

Kimberly S. Rangel, 36, was arrested and later charged with aggravated burglary and theft after officers discovered a prior trespass warning from Kohl’s, McKinley said. Rangel appeared in Douglas County District Court on Thursday where her bond was set at $25,000. Rangel was also ordered to undergo a competency evaluation and told not to return to Kohl’s. She will return to court on May 14.

Donnie L. Wishom, 34, and a 29-year-old woman were also arrested during the car stop in connection with a string of thefts that McKinley said allegedly occurred at Bath and Body Works, Bed Bath and Beyond, Ross Dress for Less and T.J. Maxx. On Thursday, prosecutors charged Wishom with misdemeanor theft. No charges were filed against the 29-year-old woman.
