Lawrence drops baseball opener

— Lawrence High pounded 14 hits, but the Lions fell to Edmond Memorial, 9-8, on Friday night in their baseball season opener.

Ryan Walter, Easton Barnes, Kieran Severa, Jacob Seratte and Brad Kincaid each had two hits for LHS. In addition, Edmond committed seven errors.

“Any time they give you seven extra outs, which is essentially what they did with seven errors, you’ve got find a way to win that game,” LHS coach Brad Stoll said. “We hit the ball hard all night. We keep track of hard contacts, and we had 11 hard contacts.”

The Lions will play Putnam City North at 2:30 p.m. today in Guthrie, Okla.
