• The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Corp. of Lawrence and Douglas County is seeking feedback from area professionals on workforce qualifications and availability.

The feedback is directed specifically to business owners and human resource professionals. A press release from the two organizations said the feedback is important to obtain a potential grant for the staffing, equipping and renovation of the Dwayne Peaslee Adult Education Center.

The center will offer technical training in various fields to local businesses, according to the news release.

• OrthoKansas announced the selections of Dena Johnston as its new chief operating officer and administrator and Stephanie Swan as chief financial operating administrator.

Johnston has worked with OrthoKansas since 2007 and previously acted as director of therapy services, program development and marketing.

Swan has been an employee of OrthoKansas since 1999, having previously served as billing office supervisor.

• Junior Achievement of Kansas announced is has won a $1,000 grant as part of the Restaurant Community Grants program from the Darden Restaurants Foundation Inc.

Junior Achievement of Kansas is an organization that teaches financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness skills to students. The grant program allows restaurants of the Darden brand to deliver the grant.

The grant to Junior Achievement was made on behalf of LongHorn Steakhouse, at 3050 Iowa St. in Lawrence.

• Sunflower Bank’s board of directors recently approved three promotions and officer elections at its Lawrence branch, effective immediately.

Sara Dawson will act as commercial relationship manager. Amy Deay will serve as senior vice president, and Glynn Sheridan will also serve as senior vice president.
