Letter: Parade applause

To the editor:

I served this year as a representative of the Camp Bromelsick Foundation Inc. on the Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. Each year, the committee raises funds for well-deserving charities. The other two charities chosen this year are Bikers Against Child Abuse and Baby Jay’s Legacy of Hope. The committee functions like a well-oiled machine and has raised more than $750,000 in funds for local children’s charities since the Parade started in 1988. The committee members deserve a great deal of thanks for all of their hard work. Committee members work year round with an exhaustive schedule the last 60 days before the parade.

The queen candidates do the lion’s share of the work each year. The queen candidates this year are Kristina Selters (she has been selected as the queen), Jessica White, Janine Leslie and Jennifer Parson. I was impressed with the number of hours and hard work these women put in. They gave countless hours of their time to help the committee raise money and put on what I believe will be another great parade. Please give these ladies a great round of applause for all of their hard work when you see them in the parade that starts at 1 p.m. Monday.
