Friday’s forecast calls for a high of 64 degrees and manageable lows in the 30s. Saturday will follow on its heels with a high closer to 70, but then things will cool off. Sunday will be chilly and rainy, with a high of 48 and overnight lows back in the 20s. But the Monday forecast looks good for St. Patrick’s Day: a sunny 65.

Oklahoma State is headed home from Kansas City after an OT crushing by the Jayhawks. Next up: KU vs. Iowa State at 6 tonight in the Big 12 semi. Can you say #kubball?

‘The Wind Rises’

Hayao Miyazaki bids farewell to the big screen with (most likely) his final full-length feature, “The Wind Rises (Kaze Tachinu),” which makes its Lawrence debut this afternoon at Liberty Hall. Japan’s analog to Walt Disney is the master behind such internationally beloved animated classics as “Spirited Away” and “My Neighbor Totoro.” Screenings: 1:30 and 4:20 p.m. Friday-Saturday; 6:10 p.m. Sunday.

Rock show

Looking ahead to the weekend, from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday you can come face to face with and learn to tell the difference between various rock stars at the KU Museum of Natural History, 1345 Jayhawk Blvd. The free Science Saturday: Minerals, Meteorites and Crystals program will explore the difference between the rare meteors that fall to Earth and geologic formations, including crystals and minerals, with hands-on examples. Good for the whole family.

And, of course, this weekend affords plenty of opportunities to get in the mood for all things green before Monday’s Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day parade. Two options: Irish Road Bowlingat Clinton Lake State Park at noon Saturday; and traditional Irish music at Henry’s on Eighth, 11 E. Eighth St., from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday nights. There’s also the annual Fake Patrick’s Day Social Service League benefit at the Replay Lounge, 946 Massachusetts St., from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, followed at 10 by some cool bands whose names we can’t print here, this being #lfk.
