Lawrence police are still investigating a reported rape that allegedly occurred late Friday at an apartment in the south-central area of Lawrence.

On Friday, Sgt. Hayden Fowler told the Journal-World that police responded to the 2300 block of Ridge Court to reports of an in-progress sex crime after 9 p.m.

On Saturday, Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence Police Department spokesman, confirmed that a male suspect was detained as he attempted to leave the area but that no arrest had been made as of Saturday afternoon.

McKinley said that a female victim was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment and that an investigation is ongoing.
