25 years ago: County considers joining with Eudora for road projects

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for June 28, 1989:

At their upcoming meeting, Douglas County commissioners were to consider a proposal to join with the city of Eudora in applying for state funding for two road improvement projects. The Eudora projects included widening Church Street (Douglas County Road 1061) from two to four lanes and building another interchange a mile west on “new Kansas Highway 10.” The Church Street project would also require widening the bridge over K-10. A preliminary cost estimate for the project was given as $2.8 million. County commissioners this week had also approved a joint application with the city of Lawrence seeking $49.6 million in state money for the south Lawrence trafficway and two other road projects.
