KU football picks up commitments from Texas preps

Kansas University football recruiting.

The Kansas University football team on Thursday added a couple of Texas players to its commitment list in the Class of 2015.

Defensive end Carl Thompson, a 6-foot-3, 260-pound Guyer High senior-to-be from Denton, and speedy running back Taylor Martin, 5-9, 187 from Dunbar High in Fort Worth, both confirmed their commitments to Jon Kirby of JayhawkSlant.com.

Martin, who was drawing interest from TCU, Illinois and Kansas State, had a special connection with KU assistant Dave Campo.

Thompson, a three-star prospect wooed by Campo and defensive-line coach Buddy Wyatt, committed during his official visit.

These additions bring KU’s total commitments in the Class of 2015 to nine.
