Former Lawrence resident Christian Curtis, of Hays, received a sentence of 87 months in federal prison Tuesday for receiving and distributing child pornography, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said in a news release.
In his guilty plea, Curtis, 27, admitted that investigators found more than 1,000 images of child pornography on his computer, according to the news release.
In March 2010, an FBI agent in New York used a peer-to-peer file sharing network to find downloadable child pornography from Curtis’ computer. Investigators followed an electronic trail to Curtis’ computer in his apartment in the 3100 block of Ousdahl Road in Lawrence, Grissom said.
After examining the computer, investigators found Curtis had been posing as a teenage girl while chatting online, soliciting young boys to perform sexual acts.
After Curtis serves his 87 months in prison, he will have eight years on supervised release. He will also have to pay a $3,000 fine.
