Henderson to be honored at retirement open house

A retirement party is being held Sunday to honor Loring Henderson, the founding executive director of the Lawrence Community Shelter who stepped down at the end of last month.

The public is invited to recognize to thank Henderson for his years of service to the Lawrence area.

“It’s a chance for the community to tell Loring, ‘Thank you,’ for all he’s done for the homeless in Lawrence,” said John Tacha, a member of the homeless shelter’s board of directors.

The open house is from 2-5 p.m. at the shelter, 3655 E. 25th St., with a presentation to Henderson at 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
