Friday deadline set for submissions for Free State Festival’s first ideas ‘Lightning Round’

Kansas University and Lawrence Art Center organizers will be accepting community submissions until late Friday for the Free State Festival’s inaugural Lightning Round of ideas presentations.

The deadline for idea submissions for eight-minute presentations on topics that can include anything from science fiction to climate change is 11:59 p.m. Friday.

A collaboration between KU and the Lawrence Arts Center, the two-hour event will feature a rapid-fire series of presentations by experts on an array of topics. Kansas University Vice Chancellor Tim Caboni will moderate the event and guests will include KU professors, Lawrence dignitaries, activists and innovators.

The lightning round will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 28 in the Lawrence Arts Center’s Large Gallery. Audience members are encouraged to come and go at their leisure, and refreshments will be provided.

Ideas submissions are being accepted in a PDF format, and the only criteria is a detailed description of the presentation. To submit your idea, visit publicaffairs.ku.edu/lightning. Schedules, tickets, maps and other information on the five-day Free State Festival are available at freestatefestival.org.
