KU’s Audio-Reader accepting donations for benefit sale

The Kansas Audio-Reader Network is currently accepting donations of used audio equipment, vinyl records, CDs and musical instruments.

Items will be sold at Audio-Reader’s annual benefit sale, dubbed “For Your Ears Only.” This year the sale will be Sept. 12-13 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Lawrence.

Proceeds will help fund Audio-Reader, a public service of Kansas University that provides free audio readings of newspapers, magazines and books over the radio for people who are blind or visually impaired or who cannot read conventional print text.

The most popular items at the sale are rock ‘n’ roll records, turntables and vintage audio equipment.

Donations can be brought to Audio-Reader at 1120 W. 11th St., or to Kief’s Audio/Video at 2429 Iowa St. Starting in July, KCUR, at 4825 Troost St., Suite 202, in Kansas City, Mo., will accept donations during business hours.
